Opening of the new FernFH building in Wiener Neustadt!

On 24th October 2018, the official opening ceremony of FernFH’s new location took place at Ferdinand Porsche Ring 3. Approx. 160 guests came together with the FernFH team to celebrate the vision of modern and flexible study, teaching and working which has become a reality thanks to this new building.

Within a record time of six months, the project team completed the construction work on Ferdinand Porsche Ring 3 and, in doing so, took an important step into the future of FernFH. Now the new location was officially opened in the presence of students, graduates, lecturers, researchers, employees and partners of FernFH.

At the beginning of the opening event, CEO Axel Jungwirth welcomed the guests and gave insights into the story of how the new location came about. Founder and owner, Werner Jungwirth, also spoke together with Mayor Klaus Schneeberger and with his words painted a picture of the development of Wiener Neustadt as an educational location both in the past and today. Subsequently, Martin Staudinger, Head of Academic Board at FernFH, covered the spectrum from the new FernFH building to the future of teaching. The grand finale of the official part of the celebration took place under the FernFH motto – “Creating Connections”. In this way, a symbolic chain reaction was triggered from turning on the basic electricity to the online networking of FernFH and students (represented by the student representative Sabine Zöchling) and this shows that FernFH is much more than an educational institution with distance learning programmes, but a University of Applied Sciences that is primarily run and sustained by people (students, teachers, employees).

The supporting programme, which was exclusively arranged by FernFH employees, offered guests a tour of the building which not only gave them the chance to see how things work inside, but made it possible for everyone to experience FernFH and the distance learning programme in different ways. Whether it was shooting a video, a podcast, insights into the online campus or getting to use VR glasses, the guests took advantage of their chance to get an insider’s look with great enthusiasm. The visitors were able to take away many new experiences as well as new friends and some souvenir photos.

We celebrated the opening of the new FernFH building into the late hours of the evening and enjoyed the lounge music and pleasant conversation.
