Science Meets Climate Action: CoClimA at Heurika’s “Stadt 2026” in Mistelbach
On June 29, 2026, the CoClimA project was represented at the “Heurika findet Stadt!” science and fun festival in Mistelbach. At our interactive booth, we showed how everyone can contribute to climate protection in their daily lives—in a practical, easy-to-understand way, with various opportunities to get involved.
What is “Heurika Finds the City”?
“Heurika Finds the City” is a science and culinary festival in Lower Austria that uniquely combines research, innovation, and regional cuisine. This year, it took place on the grounds of the Mistelbach Museum Center. Visitors were able to learn more about various scientific topics through interactive research stations, workshops, and science shows. The festival invites people of all ages to experience science up close.
The CoClimA Booth: How much of an impact does your daily life have on the climate?

At the CoClimA booth, visitors were greeted by a special interactive station: the Climate Scale. It makes it visible and tangible just how differently our daily decisions affect the climate. Some results are surprising, others thought-provoking—and they invite visitors to view their own daily lives from a new perspective.

In addition, visitors to our booth could look forward to:
- A personal climate profile that shows where individuals have room to take action
- Concrete real-world examples from the region that demonstrate how organizations are already implementing climate-friendly measures
- CoClimA conversation cards with prompts to start a conversation about climate protection—even with people who are skeptical of the issue
Despite the summer heat, many visitors took the opportunity to learn about our project and explore ways to incorporate climate protection into their daily lives
Hands-On Research
CoClimA represents a new approach to climate research: People are not merely informed, but actively involved. Together with citizens, the project develops ideas and solutions for greater climate protection in everyday life. This generates knowledge that is understandable, practical, and immediately applicable to the region.

We would like to thank all visitors for their interest and the many engaging conversations. For the CoClimA team, it is always exciting and inspiring to share the project with the public and thereby actively contribute to raising climate awareness.

TheCoClimA research project—a climate alliance of communities organized by FERNFH—examines how community engagement influences climate-friendly behavior in regions.
