Mission Statement

The Institute for Information Technology and Business Informatics (ITWI) is responsible for teaching both traditional and contemporary knowledge in the fields of business informatics and information technology, and conducts research in selected subfields.

The Business Informatics ( Bachelor's) program provides students with a solid foundation in information technology, both for decision-making and for its application in business.

The Information Technology ( Master's) program provides students with up-to-date knowledge in technological fields such as data science, IT security, and e-commerce technology, and prepares them to perform a wide range of tasks in IT and digitalization that require complex management and technical skills.

Our mission includes:

  • Dynamically adapting our expertise in both teaching and research to the rapidly changing challenges of information technology and business informatics.
  • Cross-institutional and interdisciplinary research—particularly in the application of AI in healthcare.
  • Establishment of a systematic framework for the transfer of expertise from research to teaching.

R&D Priorities

Our research priorities align with the specialization tracks in the Master's program in Information Technology.

Digital Transformation

We live in the age of digitalization. Some say that the significance of digitalization is comparable to another industrial revolution. The practical application of digitalization’s potential—digital transformation—is permeating and fundamentally changing all sectors of the economy, from healthcare to public administration to agriculture.
