SCORAI Europe Conference 2025: FERNFH Research on Sustainable Consumption in an International Forum
How can sustainable consumption patterns be promoted? Our researchers, Dr.in Birgit Teufer, BSc, BA, MA, and Ing.in Vivien Marx, BA MA, presented current FERNFH projects at the international SCORAI 2025 conference in Lund—one of the leading conferences on sustainable consumption and social change.
The SCORAI Europe Conference 2025 took place in Lund, Sweden, from April 8 to 10, 2025. The event brought together experts from across Europe to discuss sustainable consumption and production patterns. Among the participants were our researchers Birgit Teufer and Vivien Marx, who presented FERNFH’s current projects.
Sustainable Consumption—From Theory to Practice
Birgit Teufer, who also serves as director of the FERNFH Institute for Economics & Psychology, led the session “Strategies for Inclusive and Innovative Communication Approaches in Sustainable Consumption.” As part of this session, she also presented the findings of a research project that stemmed from the master’s thesis of Katharina Rieck, a graduate of the Master’s program in Business Administration & Business Psychology. Titled “Eco-Tax and Sustainability Information on the Menu,” the study examined how environmental tax information and sustainability information can influence the selection of meat dishes—a successful example of how student work can be developed into scientifically sound projects.
Vivien Marx, a research associate at the Institute for Economics and Psychology and also a FERNFH alumna, focused her presentation on the accessibility of community-supported agriculture (CSA) for lower-income households. Her research shows how targeted support and financing models can enable inclusive participation—without creating a sense of stigma.
