A Clearer View of the AI Jungle—From Basics to Applications

May 27, 2025

What can generative AI really do—and what can’t it do? What skills are in demand in the age of “AI-ndustrialization”? And how can we, as individuals and organizations, keep pace with this development? These questions were the focus of the event “Understanding Artificial Intelligence: Get Ready for AI-ndustrialization,” which took place on May 22, 2025, at FERNFH.

Artificial intelligence is no longer just a vision of the future, but a central part of our everyday lives—whether we realize it or not. This makes it all the more important to understand what lies behind the term, how AI actually works, and what to keep in mind when using it. This was precisely the focus of the lectureUnderstandingArtificialIntelligence: Get Ready forAI-ndustrialization”on May 22, 2025. Organized by the Student Council and the FERNFHAlumni Network, the event struck a chord with the times: It sold out quickly and generated a great deal of interest.

From Hype to Action: AI Explained in Simple Terms

The speaker, Mag. Florian Bieche—himself a student at FERNFH in the Department of Information Technology and Business Informatics, as well as an entrepreneur and founder of the agencyFLB.CO.AT—provided the event with a comprehensive, practical overview of current developments and challenges in the field of artificial intelligence.

In his presentation, Bieche provided a well-founded yet easy-to-understand overview of the history, fundamentals, and current developments in the field of generative AI. The topics ranged from historical milestones in AI research to current tools, prompts, and trends such as Google’s VEO3, Project Astra, and Codex. One thing became particularly clear: Not everything marketed under the buzzword “AI” is actually intelligent—critical thinking is more important than ever. Common myths—such as the idea that AI is already all-knowing or will soon replace all jobs—were also put into the proper context. At the same time, opportunities were highlighted: for example, how AI can help make better use of digital applications or streamline repetitive tasks.

At the end, participants had the opportunity to ask individual questions. These ranged from the personal use of AI tools to detailed questions about practical implementation. Conclusion: Artificial intelligence is not a sure thing—it is a tool that we must consciously shape and use responsibly.
