The Campus Café Celebrates a Successful Launch During On-Campus Days
On the four Fridays during the in-person sessions in September, the FERNFH Alumni Network hosted its first Campus Café in the student lounge. With coffee, tea, and sweets, a cozy space was created for networking and conversation.
Four Fridays in September, starting at 8:30 a.m. each day in Wiener Neustadt: The aroma of coffee and sweet pastries filled the hallways and drew students, faculty, and staff alike to the student lounge. There, thealumni network—with the kind support of the FERNFHStudent Council—organized the Campus Café for the first time, providing a welcoming backdrop to the in-person days of the winter semester.
For the first time, the new format offered students from all semesters, as well as faculty and staff, a place to meet and the opportunity to strike up casual conversations. For first-semester students in particular, it was a place to settle in and get to know one another, while students in higher semesters and part-time faculty took advantage of the opportunity to exchange ideas and network. Many experienced the alumni network for the first time as a point of contact and learned firsthand that it is not just a network for graduates, but includes all members of the university community, including students and faculty.
The student council was also there with informational materials—many students took the opportunity to learn about its responsibilities and the opportunities it offers.
Positive feedback and tangible added value
The response was consistently very positive: a great atmosphere, a steady stream of visitors, and numerous conversations about academic experiences, career prospects, and shared interests. It also became clear just how valuable a social gathering place is during on-campus days—the alumni network’s campus café provided this opportunity and brought students and faculty together across semesters and roles.
By being there in person, we were able to make new connections, present our offerings, and spark interest in upcoming activities—such as theFERNFH Alumni 10hoch10 Festival andother events and initiatives. Many participants took the opportunity to learn more about future programs, collaborations, and opportunities to get involved.
The positive feedback confirms that the Campus Café has provided important momentum for the future, and there is a desire to continue it.
