Writing Night for Bachelor's and Master's Theses: A Look Back at the Event on March 12, 2025
On March 12, 2025, FERNFH held its “Writing Night” for bachelor’s and master’s students, an event that gave students the opportunity to make progress on their theses in a productive and motivating atmosphere.
The Writing Night was aimed at students from all fields of study who were seeking support with their bachelor’s or master’s theses. Led by MMag.a TanjaAdamcik and Prof.in(FH) Mag.aDr.inChrista Walenta, participants received a structured introduction to the evening’s schedule at the start. The goal was to work together to create a focused work environment in which every student could begin the writing process with a clear goal in mind.
At the beginning of the session, the students set their individual goals for the upcoming writing phase. Setting these goals helped them stay focused and make effective use of the 90 minutes of writing time ahead. The opening exercises—a clustering exercise to organize ideas and a freewriting session—were designed to stimulate creative flow and overcome writer’s block. These methods enabled the students to engage with the writing process from the very first minute without feeling pressured to be perfect.
Writing with Focus and Motivation
This was followed by the longer writing session, during which the students worked on their theses for nearly 90 minutes. The group’s calm yet motivating atmosphere helped many of them stay focused and find their own writing rhythm. Some used the time to write specific subsections, while others grappled with theoretical concepts or methodological issues in their papers. This phase demonstrated once again how valuable it can be to concentrate and write together within a supportive community.
The event concluded with a reflection session in which the participants shared their experiences and progress. It became clear that many were able to achieve their personal goals and found the collaborative work environment to be very supportive.
A Successful Writing Night: Productive and Motivated Together
The Writing Night on March 12, 2025, was a complete success. The students had the opportunity to make progress on their work in a productive and motivating environment and to benefit from the support of the group. The event demonstrated how helpful it can be to engage in the writing process not alone, but in dialogue with others.
Armed with new ideas and renewed motivation, the students are now looking forward to the next step in their thesis projects. The writing marathon has once again underscored how important it is not to go through the writing process in isolation, but to draw inspiration and support from the community.
