CoClimA Project at the FTI Citizen Science Networking Meeting

November 27, 2025

The research team from the FERNFH CoClimA project (Climate Alliance) participated in the 1st FTI Networking Meeting organized by GFF NÖ. At the event, researchers shared their experiences with citizen science in practice, discussed current challenges, and collaboratively developed potential solutions.

Exchange and Networking in the Spirit of Citizen Science

At a networking event organized by the Lower Austrian Research Promotion Society, various citizen science projects in Lower Austria had the opportunity to share their practical experiences. The goal was to give researchers from different projects the opportunity to network, share experiences, and jointly develop strategies for current challenges. The CoClimA project was represented by project director Birgit Teufer, project staff member Pia Pototschnig, and project partner Barbara Hartl from IHS Vienna.

Working Together to Overcome Challenges

During the workshop portion of the event, participants shared their experiences and challenges in their research projects. These contributions were then organized and discussed in small groups. After prioritizing the topics, the most important challenges were discussed in groups. Each group addressed a specific problem, identified its causes, developed possible solutions, and noted obstacles to implementation.

Lessons for the Future

The in-depth exchange at the networking event was extremely valuable for the CoClimA team. For the researchers, it was an exciting opportunity to learn about other projects and their experiences, challenges, and solutions, and to gain important insights to apply to their own work.
