10 Years of ASBA: An Anniversary Full of Successes and New Opportunities!

On September 20, 2024, the bachelor’s degree program in Aging Services Management (ASBA) at FERNFH Wiener Neustadt celebrated its 10th anniversary. With prominent guests, many familiar faces from FERNFH, a new degree program, and a strong commitment to social causes, the event set the stage for the future of health sciences.

10 Years of ASBA: Milestones of a Unique Bachelor's Program

Numerous graduates of the Bachelor’s program in Aging Services Management, faculty members, partners, and current students gathered in the student lounge at the Wiener Neustadt campus—festively decorated in FERNFH orange—to celebrate together. Together, they looked back on a successful journey in teaching and research in the field of Aging Services Management. This journey began over 10 years ago with the development of the program, for whichProf.(FH) Mag.aDr.inKarin Waldherr was primarily responsible, and later continued under her leadership. Since 2017, ASBA has been carried forward with great foresight by Waldherr’s successor, MMag.a TanjaAdamcik.

Mayor Schneeberger and the FERNFH administration honor the degree program

The guest of honor at the anniversary celebration was themayor of Wiener Neustadt,Mag. Klaus Schneeberger. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of the FERNFH program and its graduates for the nursing and healthcare sectors, and highlighted the significant role women play on the team at the Institute of Health Sciences.

The FERNFHmanagement, represented byMag. (FH) Axel Jungwirth, MEng, AKKM, andDr. Alexander Fleischer, also paid tribute to the program. Jungwirth thanked the entire ASBA team for their 10 years of successful collaboration and congratulated the mayor—who was celebrating his 3,500th day in office that day—with a fine bottle of red wine.

New Master's Program in "Digital Health Management" Officially Accredited

Another reason to raise a glass was the announcement of the accreditation ofthe newmaster’s program in Digital Health Management(DIGMA). This program, which builds on ASBA, offers graduates of the university’s own bachelor’s program—as well as those from related or equivalent degree programs—the opportunity to further specialize in the fields of e-health and digitalization in healthcare. Thenew DIGMA program director, Mag.a Barbara Prazak-Aram, raised a toast with the guests to the promising future of this master’s program.

Culinary highlights and support for an important social initiative

In addition to the official program events, there was also plenty of attention paid to cuisine and social responsibility. FERNFH sourced the buffet through the organizationLebenshilfe Österreich.Lebenshilfe, which supports people with disabilities, offers them employment opportunities in various fields, including the catering industry. By choosing Lebenshilfe as its catering partner, FERNFH sent a clear message ofinclusion and social responsibility. A large anniversary cake rounded out the culinary offerings and brought smiles to many faces.

Celebrate, Share, and Network

Another key aspect of the celebration was the lively exchange betweenalumni, currentstudents, and guests from the faculty, research, and administration. Many of the graduates in attendance shared their experiences with the ASBA program and expressed excitement about their next steps, particularly the newly introducedmaster’s program in Digital Health Management.

A Look into the Future: Aging Services Management Remains Relevant

The event concluded on an optimistic note. TheAging Services Managementprogram will remain a crucial component in the training of professionals who can successfully address the social and demographic challenges of the future in the years to come.
