Family-Friendliness: Another Award for Our University

January 13, 2024

On January 29, 2024, the Ferdinand Porsche FERNFH was awarded the government’s seal of approval for family-friendliness for the third time. Federal Minister MMag.a Dr.in Susanne Raab personally presented the certificate during the formal ceremony.

For years, our university has been implementing family-friendly measures to help our staff, faculty, and students achieve an optimal balance between work, studies, and personal life. Our commitment has paid off and has now been recognized with the recertification of the“hochschuleundfamilie”state seal of approval from the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs and Youth.

It was with great joy and pride that Prof. (FH) Mag. Dr. Herbert Schwarzenberger, deputy chair of the faculty at the Ferdinand Porsche FERNFH, and Astrid Braun, FERNFH representative for the “hochschuleundfamilie” audit, accepted the state seal of quality for the Ferdinand Porsche FERNFH from MMag.a Dr.in Susanne Raab, Federal Minister for Women, Family, Integration, and Media, in the festive setting of the Palais Bergs in Vienna.

Working together makes all the difference

“The certificate highlights our efforts and activities, but even more crucial is the path itself that we are taking—and will continue to take—together as a university,” said Astrid Braun, emphasizing the importance of not only practicing family-friendliness but also continuously developing it. Staff, faculty, and students are to be supported in all kinds of caregiving responsibilities, among other things, to enable them to achieve an optimal balance between work or studies and family life at our university. In this context, for example, targeted measures have been developed for students who must interrupt their studies due to caregiving needs or responsibilities and then return to their studies.

For the upcoming certification period, the “Hochschule und Familie” project team has set a goal of developing additional measures for the future. The focus is on further improvements for staff, students, and faculty, with the aim of making FERNFH a place where work-life balance and responsibilities can be successfully “reconciled.”
