The admission process:

Just as your studies here at FERNFH are designed to be flexible and tailored to your individual needs, so too are our admission procedures. Each degree program and continuing education course has its own admission process designed specifically for you:
Bachelor's degree
Generally, the admissions process for bachelor’s degree programs consists of anaptitude testand anadmissions interview. The content and weighting of these components vary depending on the program:
- Aging Services Management
- Online Aptitude Test (Weighting: 65%)
This consists of a subject-specific test for which you can prepare using the materials provided. The aptitude test is administered online.
- Online Admission Interview (Weight: 35%)
You can prepare for the admission interview using the provided interview guide. The admission interview will take place online via MS Teams.The purpose of the admissions interview is to use a standardized interview to assess the program’s benefits for the applicants’ future careers and the realistic feasibility of completing the university of applied sciences distance learning program. The main criteria considered are the relevance and duration of the applicant’s previous professional experience, their knowledge of the degree program, and the clarity of their goals regarding the program’s benefits in relation to their own professional activities.

The aptitude test takes place on the FERNFH Online Campus. It consists of a subject-specific knowledge test based on a provided study guide, as well as assessments of English proficiency, numerical reasoning, and reading comprehension.

- Online Admissions Interview (Weighting: 20%)
The admissions interview takes place via MS Teams. The purpose of the interview is to use a standardized interview format to assess the relevance of the applicant’s professional experience to date and, together with the applicant, to evaluate the realistic feasibility of pursuing a part-time distance learning program at a university of applied sciences while working.

The following criteria are considered for admission to the program:
- Online Admission Interview (Weighting: 40%)
The admission interview will take place via MS Teams. You will receive a link to schedule an individual appointment. The purpose of the admission interview is to use a standardized interview to assess the relevance of your previous professional experience and to work with applicants to determine whether pursuing a part-time distance learning program at a university of applied sciences is a realistic option. - Online Aptitude Test (Weighting: 50%)
This is a potential assessment test that requires no preparation. The aptitude test is administered online. - Length of relevant professional experience (weighting: 10%)

Applicants will be ranked based on their test scores and admission interviews and will subsequently be notified of their admission.
- Online Admission Interview (Weighting: 40%)
Master's degree
For master’s programs, the admissions process begins with aninitial ranking of applicants based ondefined criteriaafter the application documents have been submitted. This is followed by anaptitude testand anadmissions interview. The content and weighting of the admissions process vary depending on the program:

Step 1: Formal Review of Application Materials
In the first stage of the admissions process, the application materials are reviewed to determine whether the formal admission requirements specified in the Study and Examination Regulations have been met.
This includes, in particular, proof of prior study in a relevant field at the bachelor’s level totaling at least 180 ECTS credits.
Step 2: Aptitude Test (on-site at the Wiener Neustadt campus)
The aptitude test assesses fundamental and basic knowledge. It evaluates the following areas of knowledge in the core subjects:

- Business Administration & Business Psychology (Bachelor's Level)
- Methods of Empirical Social Research
- Proficiency in English (particularly the ability to understand subject-specific texts at the B2 level)
To prepare for the aptitude test, we recommend the chapters listed belowfrom well-established textbooks. In addition, we provide astudy guideto help you prepare. You will receive access to this guidevia email along with your invitation to the aptitude test.
Step 3: Admission Interview (online via MS Teams)
Step 4: Final Ranking and Agreement on Admission
For the final ranking, which is used to determine the allocation of university spots, Stage 2 (aptitude test) is weighted at 50% and Stage 3 (admission interview) at 50%.

- Information Technology

The date of application is not a factor in determining the order of priority, as long as the application is submitted within the application period.
1. Initial ranking based on defined criteria (weighting: 20%)
After the application materials and the statement of purpose have been submitted, applicants will be ranked based on defined criteria in accordance withthe Study and Examination Regulations:
- Letter of motivation (weighting: 50%), in which the applicant explains their reasons for pursuing the master’s program, with particular emphasis on persuasiveness, future career goals, and academically sound reasoning,
- the number ofECTScredits earnedin engineering subjects(weighting: 20%)
- Experience with part-time degree programs or distance learning formats (weighting: 15%)
- Quality of relevant professional experiencein terms of technical expertise as well as consulting, management, and leadership experience, particularly in the IT field (weighting: 15%).
2. Standardized Aptitude Test (60% weighting)
Based on the ranking, twice the number of available spots will be admitted to Stage 2.
The aptitude test assesses your knowledge of core subjects in information technology*, for which you can prepare using the provided materials.3. Ranking of applicants based on their individual test scores
4. Admission Interview (Weighting: 20%)
The goal is to assess the applicants’ potential with regard to interdisciplinary requirements, sustainability, and the realistic feasibility of completing the program, as well as their relevant competencies.5. Agreement on Admission
Note: The Master's program in Information Technology is an evolution of the Master's programin Business Informatics.

- Digital Health Management
The admissions process for the master's program in Digital Health Management establishes clear criteria for evaluating admission decisions.
1. Initial ranking based on defined criteria (weighting: 20%)After the application materials and statement of purpose have been submitted, applicants will be ranked based on defined criteria in accordance withthe Study and Examination Regulations:
- Statement of Purpose (weighted at 35%), inwhich the applicant explains their reasons for pursuing the master’s program, with particular emphasis on persuasiveness, future career goals, and academically sound reasoning;
- Number of ECTS credits earned (weighted at 35%) insubjects relevant to the field of study, as specified in the admission requirements
- Experience with part-time degree programs or distance learning formats(weighting: 15%)
- Quality of relevant professional experience in terms of technical, consulting, management, and leadership experience(weighting: 15%)
2. Standardized aptitude test (weighted at 60%)
3.An interview with the program director (weighted at 20%)or individuals designated by the program director, during which applicants can demonstrate their potential with regard to interdisciplinary requirements, the sustainability and realistic feasibility of the program, and their relevant prior knowledge.
4. Agreement on Admission
Information on Demonstrating Specific Knowledge: Individuals who, due to a lack of relevant prior education, are required to provide proof of certain knowledge may generally do so by the start of the semester. Under certain conditions, admission with conditions may be granted.
Continuing Education
The admissions process for continuing education programs at FERNFH involves an admissions interview or a review of the formal admission requirements by the program director.
