Thorsten Händler heads the “Digital Transformation” expert team as well as the Research & Development department at Ferdinand Porsche FERNFH. With a Ph.D. in Business Informatics (Vienna University of Economics and Business), he combines extensive academic experience as a researcher, lecturer, and department head at various colleges and universities with practical expertise in the management and technical implementation of software projects.

His research and teaching focus in particular on the following areas: AI engineering and agent systems, software architectures and modeling, human-computer interaction, process automation, decision-making processes and decision support, knowledge and innovation management, and competency development and training.

Together with his team, he investigates the technical, structural, psychological, and pedagogical factors and implications of the AI transformation. Current research focuses on the following topics:  

  • Architectures and Modeling of AI Multi-Agent Systems
  • AI-Based Decision-Making Dynamics in Complex Environments
  • Acceptance, Narratives, and Maturity Levels of AI in the Enterprise

Other research interests include the economic aspects of AI and its applications in defense and healthcare.
