Body Project Austria

Sponsored by

Health Promotion Agenda (Center of Excellence for the Future of Health Promotion) and the Healthy Austria Fund

Goal: To lay the groundwork for the nationwide, sustainable rollout of Body Project in Austria for the target group of 15- to 18-year-olds.

The Body Project, an intervention developed in the U.S. by Eric Stice and colleagues, has been shown to have a positive effect on participants’ body image and body satisfaction. The BODY PROJECT AUSTRIA initiative aims to adapt this evidence-based program for Austria and roll it out on a sustainable basis. The main goals of Body Project Austria are:

  • Participatory adaptation of the existing concept using various implementation strategies
  • Implementation and evaluation of the concept in three regions (Vienna, Upper Austria, Tyrol)
  • Development of a "train-the-trainer" program and delivery of the corresponding training

To this end, key stakeholders in Austria are continuously and collaboratively involved in the project’s progress. Body Project Austria is also widely publicized in order to reach as many organizations and people as possible.
