Digital Transformation
We live in the age of digitalisation. Some say the significance of digitalisation is comparable to another industrial revolution. The practical application of the possibilities of digitalisation – digital transformation – permeates and fundamentally changes every sector of the economy, from healthcare and public administration to agriculture.
Embedded in teaching: management knowledge, statistical analysis, data science and IT security are key competences
Developing and implementing digital transformation requires sound and complex expertise in all areas of information technology and business informatics. Our department’s degree programmes, the BA in Business Informatics and the MA in Information Technology, teach the competences needed for digital transformation, including management knowledge, statistical analysis, data science and IT security. These enable students to define and specify complex, interdisciplinary tasks in all sectors of the economy, and to evaluate and implement the available technology solutions to address them. The knowledge gained in our degree programmes is therefore crucial and forms the basis for implementing digital transformation across all sectors of the economy.
Embedded in research: developing innovative solutions and advanced technologies
The department’s research focus areas concentrate on carrying out digital transformation in various fields. They make a significant contribution to digital transformation in healthcare through research and development of innovative solutions using artificial intelligence in healthcare. Research and development of advanced technologies in IT security creates innovative methods that drive forward and accelerate digital transformation in every sector of the economy.
